Buns Rue Missed Chances
Tonyrefail RFC 11 St Albans 5
For the Second Week on the bounce, St Albans secured a losing bonus point but left regretting what might have been. In contrast, Tonyrefail, took their chances and defended well to hang onto their lead. In their first away game, St Albans made a bright start and shaded the opening quarter. The forwards made a bright start, with young Joe Browett to the fore allowing the backs to chance their arm and the backs moving the ball well. A well taken try by Barry Thomas gave the Buns a deserved 5-0 lead but several chances were missed. However, as the Buns faded, Tonyrefail, in contrast, took their chances – converted pressure into a try and knocked over two penalties. St Albans rallied, fancied their chances of striking back but the Home team defended well for the second half and counter attacked where they could – stuck to their game plan and deserved their narrow win.
